Section One: Name and Object  
 
  1.1 The name of the association shall be the Korean Association for Students and Scholars at UNC-CH (KASS).

  1.2 The aim of the association shall be to promote and develop the understanding of Korean culture and tradition.


 
  Section Two: Membership  
 
  2.1 Membership of the association shall be open to all members of the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill.

  2.2 Non-University members may also be admitted to the association, provided that the total number of
non- university members shall not constitute more than one-fifth of the total membership.

  2.3 The membership fee shall be set by the President at the beginning of each academic year.

  2.4

The President may terminate any person’s membership for the conduct unbecoming to the association on the vote of three-quarters of those present at any annual general meeting provided that such a person has been given the opportunity to explain his/her conduct at the meeting.


 
  Section Three: Staff and Committee  
 
  3.1 The committee shall consist of a President, Treasurer, Web Master, and Event Staff.

  3.2 The role of the President shall be to run the association. He/she shall be responsible for organizing all speaker events and social events, and shall oversee the day-to-day running of the association including its finances. The President will be responsible for representing the association to sponsors, speakers, and members.

  3.3 The role of the Treasurer shall be to manage the accounts of the association and prepare the accounts for audit by external auditors at the end of each financial year. He/she shall be responsible for raising sponsorship during the vacation before his/her term of office and in ensuring that invoices are sent out and paid as soon as possible and that other expenses are dealt with efficiently. The Treasurer will be accountable to the President for his/her actions.

  3.4 The role of the Webmaster shall be to monitor, develop, organize the website of KASS and emailing list.

  3.5 The role of the Event Staff shall be to help to organize speaker and social events, overseeing certain Committee functions and liaising with sponsors.

  3.6

The duration of office for all Staff shall be one academic year unless there is an exceptional circumstance.


 
  Section Four: Meeting  
     
 
  4.1 An Annual General Meeting (AGM) may be called at the instigation of the President or shall be held
at the beginning of Fall semester or in the end of Spring semester.

  4.2 An Annual General Meeting shall have the power to:
4.2(1) require any staff or non-staff member to give an account of his/her actions.
4.2(2) remove any staff or non-staff member from the association.
4.2(3) elect President subject to Section Five below.
4.2(4) alter the Association’s constitution.

  4.3 Any proposed change or action must be approved by one half majority of those members present
at the meeting.


 
  Section Five: Elections  
     
 
  5.1 The officer post to be contested each year is that of President by a simple majority.

  5.2 The President-elect may appoint the uncontested posts of Treasurer, Web Master, and Event Staff.

  5.3 For posts of President, Treasurer, Web Master, and Event Staff, candidates must have been matriculated at the University of North Carolina and must have been enrolled in the apt course.

  5.4 A person can hold the posts of President of the association once only.

  5.5

Only members of the association shall be eligible to vote.

 

 
  Section Six: Constitution  
     
 
  6.1 The Constitution may only be amended as follows:

   
6.1(1) by the procedure described in the Constitution itself.
6.1(2) by a two-thirds majority of those members present at any Annual General Meeting according to the proposals of the committee in which the amendment of the constitution is part of the Agenda.


 
  Section Seven:  
     
 
  7.1 The Association shall at all times be administered in accordance with the regulations for
